“I started my own business because I wanted to be my own boss!” Great! But if you want to grow that business and have it thrive, you had better have a healthy dose of humility to navigate the situations where data and feedback show that you’ve been wrong.
In this third episode of the Whatever The Heck That Means on YouTube series on the traits of expert entrepreneurs, we look at why expert entrepreneurs are humble. Check it out. Like, and subscribe if you do. Comment your thoughts and questions too.
To do that we’ll look at some of the destructive thinking and behaviors that can result from lack of humility and some ideas for how to become more humble while also becoming more creative and adaptive in business.
Destructive behaviors, like:
- Anger, blame, and resentment
- Denial, dismissal, and doubling-down
- Shattering of confidence, explosion of uncertainty, and timidity of action
Ways to increase humility, like:
- Focus on customers
- Imagine experiments
- Trust, empower, and listen to your people
And also, to take up a new hobby.
